How it works:

  1. Click Book Now to select the number of systems at your property and complete prepayment to secure your inspection date and time.

  2. A WETT Certified Inspector will attend your property to assess your system(s) and gather all necessary information required for the WETT report.

  3. Why WETT Bandit - From industry experience, we know that not every wood-burning system is up to code. We also know that homeowners only want to pay for an inspection once. If there happens to be anything not to code, we will always discuss that with you before the report is finalized. Providing a homeowner time, guidance, and sometimes resources we have access to, allows for fixes/updates to happen and be reflected on the first WETT report.

  4. Receive Your Report - Your WETT inspection report will be delivered within 2 days of the on-site inspection, subject to any previously noted considerations.

  • A WETT (Wood Energy Technology Transfer) certified inspection provides a comprehensive written report outlining the condition and code compliance of your wood-burning system. This documentation is commonly required for insurance, real estate transactions, and property purchases.

The inspection is conducted as a Level 1 (Visual) Inspection, meaning it is a non-invasive assessment of all readily accessible components of the appliance and chimney system. The goal is to verify compliance with current safety standards and applicable codes, as well as overall suitability for use. Inspections cover wood stoves, fireplaces, inserts, factory-built fireplaces, and similar systems.

Pricing $375 per WETT. If the property has more than one wood-burning system, each additional WETT is discounted 20% when inspected in the same visit.

Wood burning systems offer reliable, cost-effective, and comfortable heat, but ensuring they are safe and code-compliant with a WETT inspection is essential.

Whether a WETT Report is for a homeowners peace of mind, the sale/purchase of a property, or your insurance agency wanting to make sure a wood burning system is safe for use, we understand that the goal is the same; a report that demonstrates code-compliance and reflective of a safe system. We share this goal.

While code compliance cannot be guaranteed, inspections are professional and conducted in accordance with WETT standards and building codes. We believe a good WETT inspection process and report is not only thorough, but clearly communicated. Each inspection is approached with care, consistency, and an emphasis on transparency throughout the process.

Buy. Sell. Insure. Stay Safe.

Repairs, Replacements & Fireplace Essentials

Complete your inspection and take care of common fireplace safety items in a single appointment.

Small but important items, such as cracked firebricks, worn door gaskets, or a missing CO detector, can impact the final WETT inspection report. From experience, we carry common supplies that allow certain improvements to be made during the inspection when appropriate, helping your report reflect code compliance whenever possible.

Before Your Inspection

If you are considering a chimney cleaning or exploring options for new wood burning appliances and venting, we are happy to refer clients to Paris Stove Works. Serving the region since 1978, they are experienced professionals we trust to take care of our clients.

A chimney sweep is not required prior to a WETT inspection; however, if your system has not been serviced recently, it may be worth considering. Creosote buildup, debris, or obstructions such as nests can develop over time, which may affect both safety and usability. Getting your chimney cleaned annually or bi-annually is often what is recommended (based on the quality of wood used and how often the system is used).

Each WETT Inspection is tailored to your wood burning unit.
